Cardinal Raymond Burke, former head of the Apostolic Signatura, and Cardinal Gerhard Müller, former prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) spoke out against the German Synodal Way in interviews with Raymond Arroyo last week on EWTN. The interviews followed a meeting in which the Synodal Way voted overwhelmingly to approve “blessings” for same-sex “unions,” with both Churchmen stating that such a thing is impossible in the context of Church teaching.

Speaking to Arroyo, Burke stated that “It simply needs to be said clearly that the question of God’s plan for man and woman, His plan for the sexual union, His plan for marriage, could be a topic of discussion and debate is absurd.”

“A synod exists to ponder the teaching of the Faith, sound doctrine, the discipline of the Church, to see how it can be more effectively proclaimed and examined in a particular period of time, not to invent some new teaching,” he continued.

“If this is what’s going to go on at the Synod, then this poison, this defection from Catholic teaching and practice, will affect the whole Church. It’s an impossible situation. This has to stop.”

Burke also stated that he believes the Church is being used to push an agenda or ideology that is contrary to the Catholic Faith.

In response to a question from Arroyo with regard to the possibility that “progressives” in the Church are using the Synod on Synodality to push Pope Francis to question issues that are “already settled,” Burke noted, “What I see is that the Church is being used, because the pope sometimes says things that are very, very clear and in accord with the Church’s teaching with regard to these matters. And what the agents of the revolution do is simply ignore these statements and take other statements in which he seems to be favorable.”

“These are human inventions, human ideologies that are being pushed and the Church is being used,” Burke said. “And what it does is it renders the Church then into some kind of a human agency, almost like a government agency that’s being manipulated to foster certain programs and certain agenda. And so we need to wake up to what is happening.”

“You will notice that in a lot of this talk, you never hear the name of Our Lord,” Burke added. “You never hear talk about what Our Lord Jesus Christ is teaching us, what he’s asking of us. So this is a very serious situation.”

“It is an atmosphere of confusion which has really entered in a strong way into the Church, which permits this kind of thing” Burke further noted. “People has the idea ‘Well, the Church really doesn’t know what She truly thinks.’ This is also a tragedy in itself and causes tremendous suffering, and of course danger for the salvation of souls, of losing souls who are led into error and confusion.”

Burke also stated that to combat attempted “reforms” is not to contradict Francis, but to love him.

According to Burke, “Those of us who are addressing as best we can, with our limitations, the teaching of the Faith, the living presence of Christ in the Church, are called the enemies of the pope, but we’re the ones who really love the pope! We realize that he has a tremendous burden on his shoulders. He’s the successor of St. Peter, the Vicar of Christ on earth. He is the principle of unity in the Church, and as Our Lord said to St. Peter, ‘You are the rock and upon this rock I will build my Church,’ and this is the office of St. Peter.”

“And so we are the ones who love the pope and are trying to help him to carry out his mission, whereas these people who simply ignore what Rome is saying to them, what the See of Peter is saying to them, show that they have no respect for him whatsoever,” continued Burke. “They are indeed the enemies of the pope, and I think it’s clear! Any reasonable person can see that.”

Burke also pointed out that to break with the Church’s teaching on anything is a canonical crime. In response to a question from Arroyo on the subject, Burke responded that “Whether it’s a departure, heretical teaching and denial of one of the doctrines of the faith—or apostasy in the sense of simply walking away from Christ and from His teaching in the Church to embrace some other form of religion—these are crimes. These are sins against Christ Himself.”

Also speaking with Arroyo, Cardinal Müller said that the Synodal Way is “not respecting the Christian anthropology, that everybody is created according to the image and likeness of God, but they are occupied and influenced by the LGBT and woke ideology, that is meta-realistic and nihilistic, and therefore they have these strange ideas for the ‘blessing’ of same-sex unions.”

Müller also stated that to bless any sexual relationship that is not in accord with God’s plan for human sexuality is “blasphemic,” telling Arroyo that “it is absolutely blasphemic to make a blessing about those forms of life which is according to the biblical and ecclesial doctrine a sin, because all forms of sexuality outside of a valid matrimony is a sin and cannot be blessed.”

When asked how he would advise Pope Francis to respond to the Synodal Way, Müller said “If they are acting or going absolutely, directly against the Catholic doctrine, the definitions of the dogma, of the Catholic doctrine, there must be a trial, and they must be sentenced, and they must be removed from their office, if they are not converting themselves and they are not accepting the Catholic doctrine.”

Müller also said that the Synodal Way hopes to “drive” the Synod of Synodality, saying “They see themselves as avante garde of the Catholic Church. They were taught to separate themselves from the Church, but they want to [move] the makers and promoters of the development of the Catholic Church in this direction, because they are Modernists.”

“They think the traditional doctrine of the Church is wrong, is belonging to the Middle Ages, and they are more intelligent than the Word of God, like the Gnostics in the second century when Irenaeus of Lyons said they want to be more intelligent than God our Creator and our Redeemer,” Müller continued. “And we must absolutely resist this strange and wrong doctrine.”

Earlier this month, the Synodal Way held three votes at a meeting in which both bishops and laypeople voted, with all three votes contradicting Church teaching. In addition to the allowance of “blessings” for same-sex couples, the Synodal Way voted in favor of female deacons and also approved a declaration saying that “transsexuals” should not be “excluded” from the priesthood. Both were approved the day following the approval of same-sex “blessings,” and in all three an overwhelming majority of the German bishops voted in favor of the measures.

Müller, in addition to speaking with Arroyo about the Synodal Way’s vote, spoke to conservative German magazine Tichys Einblicke, telling the outlet that the situation for the Catholic Church in Germany is “worse than schism,” and that the Synodal Way has abandoned “the very essence of Christianity […] in favor of its transformation into a variant of the materialistic and nihilistic woke culture of man’s self-redemption and self-creation.”

Müller further stated that “Instead of the word of God in Holy Scripture and Church Tradition, one refers to the ‘authorities’ like Michel Foucault, Judith Butler, Helmut Kentler, or Yuval Harari.”

In 2021, the CDF responded to a dubium as to whether or not the Church could issue blessings for same-sex unions in the negative. Last April, over 70 bishops, including Burke and the late Cardinal George Pell, signed a letter addressed to the German hierarchy warning that the Synodal Way could lead to schism.

Bishop Strickland Urges Bishops To Say ‘No’ To Francis’ ‘Blessings’ Of Homosexual Couples...

The recently canceled Bishop of Tyler, Texas, His Excellency Joseph Strickland, is calling on Catholic bishops to resist Fiducia Supplicans, a document released earlier today by Pope Francis in conjunction with left-wing Cardinal Victor Manuel Fernández that calls for blessings of homosexual couples.

In remarks shared exclusively with LifeSiteNews via video, Bishop Strickland encouraged “my brother bishops that we all join with a voice of strength and joy in the Lord in these last days of Advent and say ‘no’ to this latest document.”

“We really simply need to be a united voice saying, ‘no,’ we will not respond to this,” Strickland stated. “We will not incorporate this into the life of the Church because we simply must say ‘no.’ And it needs to be a united voice.”

Strickland was unceremoniously dismissed from his post as the ordinary of Tyler on November 11 after refusing Pope Francis’ request to resign. He had been serving in that position since 2012. Francis’ decision prompted massive outcry from Catholics not just in the United States but across the world due to Strickland’s reputation for being an outspoken defender of Church teaching.

Fiducia Supplicans has been heralded by dissident, pro-LGBT priest Fr. James Martin as well as mainstream media outlets. “The declaration opens the door to non-liturgical blessings for same-sex couples, something that had been previously off limits for bishops, priests and deacons,” Martin exuberantly stated in a post on X today. “Along with many priests, I will now be delighted to bless my friends in same-sex unions.”

At the same time, the document has been roundly criticized by Catholics loyal to the Church’s unchanging magisterium, which forcefully condemns “blessings” for homosexual “unions.”

As reported by LifeSite earlier this month, Bishop Strickland was banned from saying Mass in the Diocese of Tyler. He has kept a low public profile over the past month. In his video message today, he said that it would be appropriate to “ask for a clarification of the true teachings of our Catholic faith.” Presumably he is suggesting a dubia should be issued to the Pope.

“In history, with the kinds of issues that we’re facing, a pope would call for a council,” he also stated. “That isn’t likely to happen now, but we need a united voice, something like a council, to address the confusion and the issues that continually arise to know the truth of Jesus Christ that is unchanging.”

Fernández was named Prefect of the Congregation (now Dicastery) for the Doctrine of the Faith in July. He was elevated to the cardinalate in September. He previously wrote an erotic book in 1995 titled Heal me with your mouth: The art of kissing. LifeSite’s Vatican correspondent Michael Haynes interviewed Fernández, who hails from Argentina, in October about his openness to blessings for same-sex couples, which he has expressed support for on multiple occasions.

Malawi Bishops Forbid ‘Blessings’ of Homosexual Unions Amid Confusion over Vatican Document...

LifeSiteNews.com reported on December 19, 2023:

by Emily Mangiaracina

The Episcopal Conference of Malawi issued a directive on Tuesday forbidding the blessing of same-sex unions in the wake of confusion over a Vatican declaration allowing blessings “for couples of the same sex.”

An official declaration by the Malawi bishops’ conference states that “to avoid creating confusion among the faithful we direct that for pastoral reasons, blessings of any kind and for same sex unions of any kind, are not permitted in Malawi.”

On Monday, December 18, Pope Francis and Cardinal Victor Manuel Fernández issued Fiducia Supplicans, which allows “blessings for couples in irregular situations and for couples of the same sex” in contradiction to the unchangeable Catholic teaching that the Church cannot bless sinful relationships.

While Fernández makes clear in the document that such blessings must not be construed as blessings “proper to the sacrament of marriage,” he admits that the text’s “theological reflection, based on the pastoral vision of Pope Francis, implies a real development from what has been said about blessings in the Magisterium and the official texts of the Church.”

In 2021, the CDF stated clearly that the Church does not have the “power to give the blessing to unions of persons of the same sex.”

The CDF stated that it is “not licit to impart a blessing on relationships, or partnerships, even stable, that involve sexual activity outside of marriage (i.e., outside the indissoluble union of a man and a woman open in itself to the transmission of life), as is the case of the unions between persons of the same sex.”

While the Episcopal Conference of Malawi stressed that Fiducia Supplicans is “NOT about the blessing of same sex unions” but rather the blessings of individuals “regardless of their state,” Fernandez emphasized in the Vatican declaration that the blessings he addresses are imparted to relationships in particular.

In paragraph 31 of the text, Fernández writes that:

Within the horizon outlined here is the possibility of blessings of couples in irregular situations and of same-sex couples, the form of which should not find any ritual fixation on the part of ecclesial authorities, in order not to produce confusion with the blessing proper to the sacrament of marriage.

In these cases, a blessing is imparted that not only has ascending value but is also the invocation of a descending blessing from God Himself on those who, recognizing themselves to be destitute and in need of His help, do not claim legitimacy of their own status, but beg that all that is true, good, and humanly valid in their lives and relationships be invested, healed and elevated by the presence of the Holy Spirit.

These forms of blessing express a supplication to God to grant those aids that come from the impulses of His Spirit – what classical theology calls ‘present graces’ – so that human relationships may mature and grow in fidelity to the Gospel message, free themselves from their imperfections and frailties, and express themselves in the ever-increasing dimension of divine love.

Fernández’s suggestion that there is “good” in same-sex relationships also defies the reality of such relationships as gravely morally sinful.

In his first letter to the Corinthians, St. Paul states that homosexual actions are sinful, explaining that “neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers” will “inherit the kingdom of God,” but rather, according to his letter to the Romans, those who practice homosexuality will receive “in their own persons the due penalty for their error.”

Zambia Bishops Latest to Forbid ‘Blessings’ of Homosexual Couples...

LifeSiteNews.com reported on December 20, 2023:

by Louis Knuffke

The Catholic bishops of Zambia have instructed their dioceses that they are not to implement the Vatican’s recent document on “blessing” same-sex couples.

The bishops noted in a statement issued Wednesday, December 20, that Rome’s new document, Fiducia supplicans, “has raised several questions, confusions and anxieties among the faithful and the people of good will, as it has now become an issue of allowing blessing of same-sex marriages.”

They went on to instruct that “based on Sacred Scripture which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,” “the Conference reaffirms the traditional teaching of the Church that declares ‘homosexual acts to be intrinsically disordered and contrary to natural law.’ Hence, ‘under no circumstance can they be approved.’”

“In order to avoid any pastoral confusion and ambiguity as well as not to break the law of our country which forbids same-sex unions and activities, and while listening to our cultural heritage which does not accept same-sex relationships, the Conference guides that the Declaration from the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith of Dec 18th 2023 concerning the blessing of same-sex couples be taken as for further reflection and not for implementation in Zambia.”

The bishops concluded by calling those living in sodomy “to embark on the path of conversion with greater trust in God’s mercy and love.”

Archbishop Peta, Bishop Schneider Ban ‘Blessings’ of Homosexual Couples in Kazakhstan Archdiocese...

LifeSiteNews.com reported on December 19, 2023:

by Stephen Kokx

The Metropolitan Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Saint Mary in Astana, Kazakhstan, in conjunction with Saint Mary’s Auxiliary Bishop Athanasius Schneider, have banned priests in the archdiocese from accepting or allowing any forms of “blessings” for “irregular” or homosexual couples.

“We exhort and prohibit priests and the faithful of the Archdiocese of Saint Mary in Astana from accepting or performing any form of blessing whatsoever of couples in an irregular situation and same-sex couples,” they wrote in a statement released today.

“Such a blessing, directly and seriously contradicts Divine Revelation and the uninterrupted, bi-millennial doctrine and practice of the Catholic Church,” they added. “With such blessings, the Catholic Church becomes, if not in theory, then in practice, a propagandist of the globalist and ungodly ‘gender ideology.’”

Their statement, which can be read in full below, comes in response to Pope Francis’ heterodox document Fiducia supplicans, which was released on Monday, December 18. The document claims that priests may impart “spontaneous” blessings on “irregular” and homosexual “couples” in certain non-liturgical settings. It further maintains that such a “blessing” does not in any way “officially validat[e] their status” or alter the Church’s doctrinal teachings on sexuality and marriage.

Archbishop Tomas Peta was appointed Metropolitan of the Saint Mary Archdiocese in 2003 by John Paul II. Bishop Schneider was named an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese in 2011. In their document, Peta and Schneider state that there is “great deception and … evil that resides in the very permission to bless couples in irregular situations and same-sex couples.”

“To bless couples in an irregular situation and same-sex couples is a serious abuse of the most Holy Name of God,” they explain, “since this name is invoked upon an objectively sinful union of adultery or of homosexual activity.”

Supporters of Fiducia supplicans have argued that the mainstream media has blown out of proportion what it actually permits. Many argue that it has been misread (or not read it at all) and that its critics are glossing over how it speaks of blessings for individuals trying to live holier lives. An accurate reading of the document, however, clearly shows that it calls for “the possibility of blessings of couples in irregular situations and of same-sex couples.” Archbishop Peta and Bishop Schneider did not fail to notice this fact.

“None, not even the most beautiful, of the statements contained in this Declaration of the Holy See, can minimize the far-reaching and destructive consequences resulting from this effort to legitimize such blessings,” they say. Only a “sincerely repentant sinner with the firm intention to no longer sin and to put an end to his public sinful situation (such as, e.g., cohabitation outside of a canonically valid marriage, union between people of the same sex) can receive a blessing.”

Peta and Schneider concluded their statement by calling on Francis to recant the permission Fiducia supplicans grants to priests.

“With sincere brotherly love, and with due respect, we address Pope Francis, who – by allowing the blessing of couples in an irregular situation and same-sex couples – “does not walk uprightly according to the truth of the Gospel” (see Gal. 2:14), to borrow the words with which Saint Paul the Apostle publicly admonished the first Pope in Antioch,” they state.

“Therefore, in the spirit of episcopal collegiality, we ask Pope Francis to revoke the permission to bless couples in an irregular situation and same-sex couples, so that the Catholic Church may shine clearly as the ‘pillar and ground of the truth’ (1 Tim 3:15) for all those who sincerely seek to know the will of God and, by fulfilling it, to attain eternal life.”

Read the full-text of the statement of the Archdiocese of Saint Mary in Astana below:

Statement of the Archdiocese of Saint Mary in Astana regarding the Declaration Fiducia supplicans, published by the Dicastery of the Doctrine of Faith and approved by Pope Francis on December 18, 2023

The manifest purpose of the Declaration of the Holy See, Fiducia supplicans, is to allow “the possibility of blessing couples in irregular situations and same-sex couples”. At the same time, the document insists that such blessings are performed “without officially validating their status or changing in any way the Church’s perennial teaching on marriage”.

The fact that the document does not give permission for the “marriage” of same-sex couples should not blind pastors and faithful to the great deception and the evil that resides in the very permission to bless couples in irregular situations and same-sex couples. Such a blessing directly and seriously contradicts Divine Revelation and the uninterrupted, bimillennial doctrine and practice of the Catholic Church. To bless couples in an irregular situation and same-sex couples is a serious abuse of the most Holy Name of God, since this name is invoked upon an objectively sinful union of adultery or of homosexual activity.

Therefore, none, not even the most beautiful, of the statements contained in this Declaration of the Holy See, can minimize the far-reaching and destructive consequences resulting from this effort to legitimize such blessings. With such blessings, the Catholic Church becomes, if not in theory, then in practice, a propagandist of the globalist and ungodly “gender ideology”.

As successors of the Apostles, and faithful to our solemn oath on the occasion of our episcopal consecration “to preserve the deposit of faith in purity and integrity, according to the tradition always and everywhere observed in the Church since the time of the Apostles”, we exhort and prohibit priests and the faithful of the Archdiocese of Saint Mary in Astana from accepting or performing any form of blessing whatsoever of couples in an irregular situation and same-sex couples. It goes without saying that every sincerely repentant sinner with the firm intention to no longer sin and to put an end to his public sinful situation (such as, e.g., cohabitation outside of a canonically valid marriage, union between people of the same sex) can receive a blessing.

With sincere brotherly love, and with due respect, we address Pope Francis, who – by allowing the blessing of couples in an irregular situation and same-sex couples – “does not walk uprightly according to the truth of the Gospel” (see Gal. 2:14), to borrow the words with which Saint Paul the Apostle publicly admonished the first Pope in Antioch. Therefore, in the spirit of episcopal collegiality, we ask Pope Francis to revoke the permission to bless couples in an irregular situation and same-sex couples, so that the Catholic Church may shine clearly as the “pillar and ground of the truth” (1 Tim 3:15) for all those who sincerely seek to know the will of God and, by fulfilling it, to attain eternal life.

LifeSiteNews.com reported on December 19, 2023:

by Doug Mainwaring

It was just a little over a dozen years ago that Argentine Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio said:

Let’s not be naive, we’re not talking about a simple political battle; It is a destructive pretension against the plan of God. We are … talking about … a machination of the Father of Lies that seeks to confuse and deceive the children of God.

At the 2014 Colloquium on The Complementarity of Man and Woman, hosted by the Vatican, Bergoglio, by then known as Pope Francis, again spoke a timeless truth:

To reflect upon “complementarity” is nothing less than to ponder the dynamic harmonies at the heart of all Creation.

His words seemed to be in harmony not only with the totality of Scripture and the Magisterium of the Church but also with those of Fatima visionary, Sister Lucia:

A time will come when the decisive battle between the kingdom of Christ and Satan will be over marriage and the family.

Yet with the publication of Fiducia Supplicans this week by the Congregation (now Dicastery) for the Doctrine of the Faith, the Pope seems to have opened the door for priests to provide blessings for homosexual couples, an intermediate step that will undoubtedly lead to same-sex “marriages” treated as a sacrament.

The evolution of Pope Francis’ messaging charts a descent into darkness, dangerously toying with lies from the father of lies, exposing the Church and countless individuals to grave harm.

We are engaged in an epic spiritual conflict

We are now engaged in an epic spiritual conflict like never before in our lifetimes.

The history of the Western World over the last several decades is a compendium of Satan’s intentions and aggressive tactics: easy divorce, cohabitation, premarital sex, extramarital sex, recreational sex, homosexuality, bisexuality, polygyny, polyandry, pansexuality, gender dysphoria in all its manifestations, non-marital childbearing, contraception, abortion, pedophilia, pederasty, pornography, surrogacy, and more.

Beginning in the middle of the last century, the world moved toward rejecting marriage altogether.

Now the battle has escalated beyond all this to what used to be easy-to-answer questions: What is man? What is woman? What is marriage? What is family? What are children, boys, and girls? Foundational truths, once unquestioned and held firmly by all, are crumbling before our eyes.

By perverting the meanings of marriage, family, and sexuality, potential for understanding the Gospel is being eviscerated.

Marriage can’t be “redefined” because it is one thing and one thing only: The union of a man and a woman as a great foreshadowing of Christ and his Bride, the Church.

To allow this massive global effort to un-define both marriage and human sexuality to continue its march forward is to cooperate with Satan — the Father of Lies, the Accuser, the Prince of Darkness, the Ancient Tempter — in his titanic effort to enlist the whole world in mocking and obscuring the eternal, heavenly reality of Christ and his Bride.

This has been Satan’s quest from the beginning of time.

And now forces within the Church — powerful western prelates, celebrity priests, and those within the vast bureaucracy of the Roman Catholic Church — increasingly seek to normalize homosexuality and consecrate same-sex couples as “married.” They act as allies of the Evil One as they display more faith in modern secular political correctness than they do in Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Word of God.

Their lack of faith — their disbelief — is the fissure, the structural crack in the foundation of the Church now creeping up its brittle walls — allowing the smoke of Satan to pour into the Church.

Same-sex marriage serves one purpose only: to ridicule, obscure, and annihilate Christ’s relationship with his Bride, the Church. It is Satan’s very public expression of his contempt for Christ and his Bride, representing his disdain and loathing for God’s plan since before the beginning of time. And Pope Francis has now, through garbled messaging, invited his shepherds and flock to align themselves with what will prove to be Satan’s greatest coup.

A collection of human activists or social engineers, i.e., the Liberal Elites who hold power over government, academia, media, the tech world, and global corporations — seeking to promote the universal acceptance of same-sex marriage as equivalent to conjugal marriage would have had no hope of achieving their goal. No one individual or coalition could have masterminded such a brilliant campaign.

Satan, the Father of Lies, with our cooperation — whether willful or passive — has instituted such a plot and brought it to fruition, enlisting men and women to embrace a lie, all the while fooling them into believing they are on a righteous quest, on the “right side of history.”

And now, having gained so much ground in the secular world, Satan’s massive assault against marriage is being waged within the Church.

Saint Pope John Paul II called marriage the “primordial sacrament,” initiated when the Second Person of the Trinity expressed his longing to have a Bride. It’s a sacrament whose fruit won’t become fully apparent until the Great Wedding Feast between the Lamb and his Bride described in Revelation.

Marriage is under siege because it stands at the heart of the Good News of the Gospel.

Same-sex attraction is what led me to God

Despite being same-sex attracted — or more likely because I am same-sex attracted — I marvel at the extraordinary significance of marriage in God’s Eternal Plan.

I’m certain I would not have invested my life in understanding the beauty of creation, natural law, complementarity, and marriage if I had not had to deal with same-sex attraction. Most likely, I would view marriage as most of the rest of the world does: as nothing more than mere tradition; ordinary, mundane and perhaps, utterly expendable.

I might have thrown it away, as I once tried to do.

But God in his mercy toward me has used that which the world once said was a curse ––an abomination deserving death –– and which it now decrees should be enshrined, celebrated, and venerated as a means to lead me closer to Him.

The world is at enmity with God. It lies to those who are same-sex attracted telling us there is no happiness available to us in complementarity: that we are doomed to a life of unhappiness unless we can convince the rest of humanity to abandon the unique significance of complementarity, and that we will remain unsatisfied, unfulfilled and offended until it is eviscerated from human experience. The world seeks to assuage this fabricated “offense,” this pretension, and chooses instead to offend God by rejecting the riches he has provided us in complementarity.

Same-sex attraction is what led me to God. It’s what made my heart cry out to God. It made me recognize that I need God daily. It made this hard-hearted, self-sufficient soul who had rejected God, sinful from birth, recognize that my soul had a deep hunger that could not be satisfied by the world or anything this world provides. It made me recognize that I have a soul, created by God and for God, and it is His love, Divine Love, that my heart seeks more than anything else.

On my own, I would have chosen to be one of the sophisticates of the world, embracing the world’s wisdom and using my same-sex attraction to lord it over others and define for them the world as I thought it should be.

In that way, I would have rejected, not only for myself but for all others, our place in the cosmos. But thanks to God’s intervention in my life and the very real power of His Cross that has set me free from so many strongholds in my mind; and thanks to the Church and to many brothers and sisters — in my own parish and around the world — whose faith is a constant witness and encouragement to me, and to the many saints who have gone before and inspired me, I see that as folly now.

I am no longer lost, looking to carve out a place for myself in the world, looking to shoehorn my way in by making those around me reject the beauty of the absolute truth of complementarity.

I know exactly where I fit in the cosmos: I was created male, and no matter my predilections, I can look beyond those to understand that I am created to give myself fully not to another male, but to a woman — my wife.

The Power and beauty of marriage

Marriage is grounded in eternity.

From before the beginning of time until its end, marriage defines the love of Him who is the Alpha and the Omega toward each of us personally, and to humanity corporately as the Church, His bride.

Same-sex marriage within the Church will be the ultimate Vanity of Vanities before the King of Kings and Lord of Lords –– a complete rejection of Christ’s heart revealed in the Song of Songs and in the preaching of the Gospel everywhere and in every age. The Father of Lies is attempting to once and for all obscure the mystical component of marriage, the primordial sacrament: Christ’s spousal love for His Church.

I implore you: reject Satan’s grand pretension, meant to divorce Christ’s bride from Christ, intended to deny Christ the longing of his heart, and deprive humanity of the glorious eternity for which we are each called into being.

"Man shall not condone evil or rationalize sin. Homosexuality is an abomination in the eyes of God and man! The Creator condemns those who do not repent of this sin."

- The Bayside Prophecies

Our Lady of the Roses, August 5, 1977

"Are you so blind that you do not recognize the acceleration of sin among you? Murders abound, thievery, all manner of carnage, destruction of young souls, abortion, homosexuality, condemned from the beginning of time by the Eternal Father. Yet sin has become a way of life. Sin is condoned now, even unto the highest judge of your land and your lands throughout the world. As you have sown so shall you reap. Sin is death, not only of the spirit, but of the body. Wars are a punishment for man's sin, his greed, his avarice."

Do Not Be Deceived: Christ Forbids Homosexual Acts, and the Church Cannot Teach Otherwise...

PERVERSIONS

"Before the destruction of Sodom, warnings, many warnings were given to mankind. These warnings also fell on deafened ears.

"Man was created above the animals, but he has now progressed downward, down the ladder, bordering on hell. Man has joined the animals in desecration of his body with bestiality, homosexuality, and all manner of perversions."

- Our Lady of the Rsoes, February 1, 1978

TEN COMMANDMENTS

"And I repeat again: all who become part of or condone homosexuality shall be destroyed!...All who seek to cast out the discipline given by the Eternal Father in the commandments, the Ten Commandments from your God—they, too, shall be destroyed!"

NCRegister.com reported on July 14, 2017:

By Msgr. Charles Pope

A steady march of the sexual revolution into deeper and deeper confusion has left many Catholics and fellow Christians confused themselves. But there should be no confusion nor is there permissible dissent by any Catholic (lay or cleric) from Church teaching on human sexuality. Both Scripture and Church doctrine are very clear that all forms of illicit sexual union, whether adultery, fornication, or homosexual acts, are sinful and cannot in any way be approved.

Some Catholics formally dissent due to a knowing and willful rejection of Church teaching, but the dissent of others is due more to the confusion brought on by a loud culture and a quiet pulpit.

Particularly culpable is any deacon, priest, or bishop who spreads error either by direct statements, intentional ambiguity, or questionable policies that offer mercy without reference to the necessary repentance. Caring for all sinners is a constant work of the Church. All sinners deserve love and careful, respectful pastoral care. But calling good or insignificant what God calls sinful, whether by direct statement or obfuscation, is not pastoral care; it is malpractice. All of us, clergy and lay, are called to be God’s prophets, spreading His teaching; we do well to remember that one day we will have to account to Him.

I have written before on various aspects of the sexual confusion in our culture (e.g., fornication, adultery, contraception, transgenderism, the battle against lust, marriage, divorce and Holy Communion, and victims of the sexual revolution). In today’s column, I focus particularly on God’s teaching regarding homosexual acts.

Tragically, in recent months, certain clergy have spread incomplete and sometimes patently false notions that such acts can be acceptable; they cannot.

Hence, I feel compelled once again to teach on this matter, reasserting Scripture and Church doctrine. The Scriptures are very clear by unambiguously and uncompromisingly describing homosexual activity as a serious sin and a moral disorder. Attempts by some to reinterpret Scripture to mean something else are fanciful at best. They typically present theories that require twisted logic and questionable historical views in order to set aside the very plain meaning of the texts.

I’d like to share a few of these biblical texts with you, but before doing I’d like to describe the context for this reflection and to make two very important clarifications.

Context - My reflections are directed to fellow Christians, hence I use Scripture as the main point of departure, as we should all share belief in the normative and authoritative status of God’s Word. In other settings, for example addressing the secular world, Natural Law arguments would be more suitable. But, here today, the Scriptures and Church teaching form the foundation. Catholics, who should accept that the Scriptures are inspired by God and unerringly teach on faith and morals, must have a clear, biblical understanding of the teaching lest we share in the widespread confusion in the world.

Clarification #1: It is homosexual activity that is condemned, not persons of homosexual orientation. Some individuals are attracted to members of the same sex. Why this is or how it comes to be is not fully understood, but it is, nonetheless, a struggle for some people. Because sexual orientation is not usually a matter of direct choice or even immediate control, it is not itself an object of moral condemnation. To be tempted to commit a sin does not make one evil or bad, or even guilty for that temptation. Rather, it is giving way to the temptation that makes one a sinner.

Many homosexual persons live chaste lives. Although tempted to commit homosexual acts, they do not do so. This is courageous, holy, and praiseworthy. Sadly, though, others with same-sex attraction not only commit the sin of homosexual activity, but openly flaunt it and dismiss biblical texts that clearly forbid it. We can only hope and pray for their conversion. However, we must distinguish between homosexual orientation and homosexual activity.

Clarification #2: We should not single out homosexual activity as though it were the only sexual sin condemned by God. Heterosexuals are also called to sexual purity. The same Bible which condemns homosexual activity also clearly condemns acts of fornication adultery. Scripture describes these as serious sins that can and do exclude people from the Kingdom of God and from Heaven (cf Eph 5:5-7; Gal 5:16-21; Rev 21:5-8; Rev. 22:14-16; Mt. 15:19-20; 1 Cor 6:9-20; Col 3:5-6; 1 Thess 4:1-8; 1 Tim 1:8-11; Heb 13:4). Sadly, many people today live in open violation of biblical teaching. Many engage in premarital sex, saying it is all right because “everyone’s doing it.” This, like homosexual activity, is sinful and should be repented of at once.

Hence, homosexual activity is not singled out by the Bible or by Christians. Every human being, without exception, whether heterosexual or homosexual, is called to sexual purity, to chastity and self-control. Any violation of this is a sin. Put more positively, God’s command of chastity means that with God’s grace, sexual purity is possible for everyone. God empowers us to do what He commands!

With the context and these clarifications in mind, we can now turn our attention to the biblical teaching on homosexuality.

As stated above, the Bible clearly and unambiguously condemns homosexual acts. For example:

1. You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination (Leviticus 18: 22).

2. If a man lies with a male as with a female, both of them have committed an abomination(Lev 20:13).

3. Likewise, the story of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah depicts, among other things, the sinfulness of homosexual activity. It is too lengthy to reproduce here in its entirety, but you can read about it in Genesis 19. Some have tried to spread the error that the story of Sodom and Gomorrah is merely about “hospitality,” and I have written on that subject here: The Sin of Sodom and Gomorrah. And let every Catholic note that the Catechism includes Genesis 19 in it scriptural notes on the biblical basis for forbidding homosexual acts.

4. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and wickedness of men who by their wickedness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them … in the things that have been made. So, they are without excuse; they became futile in their thinking and their senseless minds were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools … For this reason, God gave them up to dishonorable passions. Their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural, and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in their own persons the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a base mind and to improper conduct (Romans 1:18ff).

5. Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanders nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9).

6. The law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, for those who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, in accordance with the gospel of the glory of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted (1 Timothy 1: 8-11).

Note that in many of these texts, homosexual activity is listed as one among other sexual offenses; it is not singled out. Here, then, is what the Bible teaches: homosexual activity is sinful, as are other sexual sins such as fornication and adultery. It is true that there are not a large number of texts speaking of homosexual activity, but whenever it is mentioned, it is clearly and uncompromisingly condemned. Further, this condemnation occurs at every stage of biblical revelation, right through to the end.

Some say that Jesus never mentioned homosexuality. Well, He never mentioned rape, or incest, or sexual abuse of minors either, and His “silence” in these matters should certainly not be taken as approval. Further, Jesus said that whoever hears His apostles hears Him (see Luke 10:16), and the Epistles of the Apostles clearly mention homosexual acts and exclude them along with fornication, adultery, and all sexual impurity.

Sadly, many today have set aside these teachings on homosexual activity. Not only do they declare that it is not sinful, but they even celebrate it as though it were good. It is bad enough when non-believers do this, but it is even more tragic when people who call themselves Catholics and Christians do such things.

Do not be deceived. Those who sanction homosexual acts or any other illicit sexual behavior are setting aside the Word of God or are reinterpreting it to suit their own agenda. Psalm 2:1 laments, And why do the people imagine a vain thing? Jesus knew that some would use Him to promote their own wrongful agendas, and so He warned, Take heed that no one leads you astray. Many will come in my name, saying “I am he!” and they will lead many astray(Mark 13:5). St. Paul also knew that some would distort the Christian faith: I know that, after my departure, fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves will arise men speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them (Acts 20:29).

We must speak the truth that comes from God and then live it. Suppressing the truth leads to distortion, confusion, and suffering. The sexual promiscuity of our day has led to great suffering: sexually transmitted disease, AIDS, abortion, teenage pregnancy, broken marriages, divorce, single parenthood, addiction to pornography, sexual abuse, sexual confusion, and cultural decline. Scripture says, They sow the wind, they will reap the whirlwind(Hosea 8:7). Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. Whatever a man sows, he will reap in return. The one who sows to please his flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; but the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life (Galatians 6:7-8). Our culture is surely reaping the destructive effects of the sexual revolution. As always, it is the children who pay the highest price for adult misbehavior.

Some who oppose the teaching of Scripture and the Church have taken to calling opposition to their view “hatred” and “bigotry.” We who are of faith must declare that the Church’s opposition to homosexual behavior is rooted in the Word of God, to which we owe obedience and docility. We can say and teach no other than what God has revealed consistently in His Word. It is never loving to lie to others or to confirm them in practices that will imperil their health or their ultimate salvation. To assert that certain classes or categories of people (in this case those with same-sex attraction) cannot reasonably live according to biblical teaching is its own form of bigotry.

Perhaps it is best to conclude with a statement from the Catechism, which expresses clarity of doctrine but also loving respect persons with same-sex attraction:

Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained.

Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that “homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.” They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection (CCC 2357-2359).

I write today in the hopes that you will in no way share in the error of our times. We are not to be conformed to this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds (cfRom 12:1). The proper pastoral care needed today is to clarify and confirm everyone in the ancient and apostolic faith entrusted to the Church. It is to that end that I hope you have found this reflection helpful. May we all, clergy and laity, prophets by baptism, speak the truth with love, perseverance, and courage.

"YOU WILL BE SURELY DESTROYED"

"As in Sodom and Gomorrah, mankind had gone down and given itself over to satan. I ask you now, My children, to turn back from your road to destruction, for you will be surely destroyed as was the time of Sodom and Gomorrah. Homosexuality shall not be condoned. It is an abomination in the eyes of the Eternal Father, and as such, is condemning many to hell."
