Dear Veronica,
     On February 9th of this year my daughter was taken to the hospital with what was thought to be pneumonia. It turned out to be a very severe case of Lupus. The doctors said it was like a forest fire raging out of control. Never had they seen such a bad case. Her chances were very slim. They went down a whole list of treatments usually used and none of them really did much. She lost her kidney function and suffered seizures. It looked hopeless, and we were told to prepare ourselves.
     We all prayed constantly for her recovery. She had a rosary from Bayside and she said it daily. She wore the Our Lady of the Roses medal and scapular and used rose petals. She held on, but didn't really get better, always worse.
     At this point, on the eve of the feast of St. Joseph, I went to a vigil to place a petition before Our Lady personally. It hurt to leave her so desperately ill, but I felt perhaps I had to prove my faith. We prayed for her on the bus and she was constantly on my mind.
     The next day she got much worse and her chances for survival were even more slim. We were told to prepare ourselves, as not a doctor or nurse expected her to survive--not just the disease but the treatment as well.
     We prayed constantly, and on the day I received my petition back from Bayside she started to improve. With no kidney function to speak of she had to have dialysis three times a week. On the day the petition came back, she was supposed to have dialysis, but it was cancelled and she never had it again. The word "miracle" is used constantly by her doctors and her nurses as well.
     She recently had a kidney biopsy at a medical center and they too call it a miracle--not only that she survived but keeps improving. She has very little kidney damage they tell us, and we are hopeful she will obtain a remission of the disease.
     I ask the blessings of Jesus and Our Lady on the kind people who prayed constantly to St. Theresa, St. Jude, and St. Joseph for her recovery and still do.

A Medical Miracle!
Case to be documented in the American Medical Journal

Dearest Veronica and Workers,
     This is a testimonial of a great miracle from Our Lady of the Roses.
     My brother Artie recently went through a horrible ordeal with his marriage, and he became severely depressed. He tried to commit suicide (a definite attack from Satan) by drinking poison (a pint of methyl alcohol.) My mother found him and got him to the hospital. I spent the night at home saying a vigil of rosaries for him. I prayed with friends (Shrine pilgrims) and family continuously. [He was blessed and/or his body touched almost daily by a Bayside Rose and/or Rose Petal, and the blessed Rose was left at his bedside, her sister Rosemary informs us.] My sister called for the priest and he was given the Last Rites.
The doctors didn’t give us much hope, and they said if by any chance he were to survive, he would at least definitely be blind. After many prayers and novenas, my brother was totally cured physically. There was absolutely no trace of physical damage whatsoever. However, his mental and spiritual state was very, very poor at this point. He would not keep any of the sacramentals on him. It was just an indication to us that more prayers were needed. He refused to eat, as he said it was painful; he was being fed through a tube in his nose. He had no will to live, and he was down to 116 pounds from his normal 140 pounds.
     One day he seemed to have a great improvement overnight. He then accepted the sacramentals. He is doing fabulously right now. We have to add that on the eve of St. Joseph (his patron saint), he was told by the nurse that his case was a miracle. He had taken in six times the amount of poison in his blood than the fatal amount! He is the only person nationwide to have ever survived with that amount of poison in his body. And, incredibly, without a trace of physical damage! Also, the doctor’s name who was operating the dialysis machine was Dr. Rosette.
His case will be documented in the American Medical Journal as a medical miracle--but it is a miracle through Our Lady of the Roses.

To Our Lady of the Roses:
     We are now in New York City giving testimony of what has happened to our daughter. She’s 13 years old now, and a year ago, she was very ill suddenly, and the doctors didn’t know what it was. They spent more than a week not knowing what was happening. After that, somebody gave us a petal from Our Lady of the Roses. We gave it to her, and she kept it. The illness was located in the leg, then suddenly the doctors knew what was happening. It was a big infection. After a week, having the Petal from Our Lady of the Roses, she started becoming better and better.
     A month later, she was almost cured. The doctors now, in that moment, were sure of what it was. The name of it was osteomyelitis. But the thing most important was that our daughter was very convinced, and we also, that the Petal of Our Lady of the Roses made this miracle. Ever since, our daughter keeps the Petal with her; she prays every day. We also do the same, and we’re very convinced that Our Lady of the Roses gave us a miracle.
     Now our daughter is 13 years old, and she has grown up almost six inches. The doctors are amazed by the fact that since she had a very big infection in one of the legs, that it was very difficult that both legs would grow evenly, but they did. She is dancing ballet, which is another thing that the doctors are amazed at, because she used to dance, but they were not sure that she would dance it again. But she’s dancing now, and that’s the reason that we came to New York, to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Roses, to say thanks for what has happened.
     The diagnosis of the doctors was that it was infection in the bone called the tibia in the leg. The name of the infection was osteomyelitis. That infection put many particles of the blood, which blocked the lung, and one lung was out, and she was living with only one lung. Then having that problem, the doctors decided to perform an operation to see how the bone was. After that, they made the diagnosis of the infection in the bone called osteomyelitis. Now her lung is cured, and she is breathing normally. Her leg is cured, and she is dancing ballet. We believe it was a miracle of Our Lady of the Roses.

CURE OF PARALYSIS
June 18, 1984

Yamilka Maldonado, an eleven-year old Hispanic girl from the Bronx was instantly cured of paralysis of her right arm and her right side at Our Lady's Anniversary Vigil (June 18th) when Veronica blessed her with the Shrine crucifix that night. The paralysis had been brought on by a stroke, which she had suffered as a result of a tumor in the brain. The stroke had occurred four days before on June 14th:
     "I attribute my daughter's cure to the intervention of Our Lady of the Roses at Bayside. I believe and trust Her."

     A month ago, my family and I went to Bayside. We made the pilgrimage to honor Our Lady and Her beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus.
    As we prayed the Rosary at Bayside, and the red light flashed, indicating the presence of Our Lord, I offered Him the terrible pain in my left shoulder blade for the poor souls in Purgatory. My pain left me at that very moment.
     I have had rheumatism since 1942.
     My family and I are grateful for the privilege of being on yours and Heaven's side.

To Our Lady of the Roses:
     Through the grace of Our Lady of the Roses, she has bestowed upon me a cure of sclerosis of the back and spinal column. I had been troubled with this on and off for seven years.
     Prior to going back to Our Lady’s Shrine, I had worked for a personal injury attorney. I’d thought I would get the best doctors to take care of me. Then I thought, "Why don’t I just pray to Our Lady of the Roses. I’m going back to the Shrine." So I said to Our Lady, in my own mental prayer, "However small my faith is, please increase it, and if it is good, through your intercession, please cure me of sclerosis"--because my doctor had recommended surgery.
     Sclerosis is a curvature of the spine. It’s very painful. It can occur when you first get out of bed in the morning, and when you’re reaching for a file, or working or sitting. I felt it almost all the time. Every time I got up in the morning, I would have to sort of move myself to the edge of the bed, and then get up. And every time I had to do everything related to a back movement, I would have terrific pain.
     At the time I had started praying to Our Lady, it had become so intense, that I started my own little program before praying to Her. The third day, with these minor waist exercises--believe me, they were nothing strenuous--I felt worse. That’s when I started to pray to Our Lady of the Roses for this cure, for Her intercession to God, the Almighty Father. After I prayed to Our Lady of the Roses three times, I woke up one morning, and I just sort of bounced out of bed. Everything felt great. I thought, "Something’s different!" and I had no sclerosis pain. That has continued to this very day. I am very thankful to Our Lady of the Roses for healing me. This occurred a year and a half ago.

Skin cancer

Dear Veronica,
     There was a young boy in Dublin, Ireland with skin cancer. We have the testimony of his cure. After we sent the medals and Rose Petals to the mother of the boy, the medals were placed about the boy’s neck and Rose Petals were touched to his face. Within a short time--I believe it was a matter of three days--the cancer completely disappeared.

     One of our new members went to the Shrine with us October 31st. It was his first time. He has been a heavy smoker for 35 years and unable to break the habit.
     Since returning from the Shrine he hasn't had a smoke, and has no desire to smoke. He said he didn't ask Our Blessed Mother for that grace. Of course, She knew how he wished to break the habit.

Dear Veronica,
     I started smoking at 18 years old. I always loved the smell of smoke. By age 62 I smoked 3-4 packs a day. I even woke up at night from sleep desiring a cigarette. I was addicted. I had a terrible temper which I would unlease on anyone who would dare to take it away. I`d tell my friends leave me to my one bad poison. One day I fell down in the street twice. I was having a stroke. I prayed so hard to Our Blessed Mother in the hospital, to help me not to smoke. I couldn't do it on my own. I even went to be hypnotized. It didn`t work. 
     I`d close my eyes take a deep breath, kiss the holy rose and pray. I could hardly believe I had no desire.
     I never had withdrawals of any bad day. All my friends & relatives can`t believe it.
     It's 2 years and my health is fine. I tell everyone about my miracle & blessing from Our Lady of Roses.  
     God Bless & keep you well, from all harm.
      I pray the roses are sent all over the world to help more people who need it more than I. I wish I could meet you so I can tell many other things that have happened to me and others. Thank you for caring.

Dear Veronica,
     I have been going to most of the Vigils held at the Vatican Pavilion. I have seen so many things that leave no doubt that Our Lady is appearing there.
     Last June, I put a petition on the altar, and asked Our Lady to please help my 12-year-old nephew who has a congenital condition of the throat, which did not permit him to swallow solid food. His diet consisted mostly of shakes and soft food. He could not swallow anything solid--like meat--without bringing it up. He had to go under general anesthesia to have his throat dilated, and was told that, for the rest of his life, he would have to dilate his own throat with special tubes, but meanwhile, the doctors were doing it every two weeks.
     Last August, he went in for another examination and dilation. His father was waiting for him, and when the doctor came out, he had the strangest expression on his face. He said, "Mr. Walsh, I don’t know how to explain this, but Jimmy’s throat is perfectly normal. We don’t have to do anything for him." That same day, the letter that I put a petition in for Our Lady of the Roses Shrine came back to me. Needless to say, there was much tears of happiness about this cure.
     It has been three months, and this boy has gained 20 lbs. and eats everything he hadn’t eaten during the last 12 years. We are very grateful to Our Lord and His Mother, and when we can get enough money together, the whole family will be coming to give thanks in person at one of Our Lady’s Vigils.
     I don’t know why the Church doesn’t recognize the wonderful things that are happening at those Vigils. I’m doing my share--spreading the Messages and telling people about this cure.
